Conflict Theology

There has never been, nor ever will be, another like Satan. By cunning or might, he incited Heaven's one and only angelic rebellion. By temptation and deception, he choreographed the fall of mankind. By dominion and craft, he holds title as the "god of this world" and "prince of the power of the air." As the "father of lies" and cosmic insurrection, Satan is the architect and embodiment of Conflict Theology. Which in turn provides the very context of Scripture.

Even so, the
Devil's remaining time in Heaven draws short. Soon war with Michael and his army will result in the expulsion of the Dragon and his angels. Liberated, Heaven will rejoice! Yet Scripture warns , "Doom to earth and sea, For the Devil's come down on you with both feet; he's had a great fall; He's wild and raging with anger; he hasn't much time and he knows is."


"I will give you all this power and all this wealth,” the Devil told him. “It has all been handed over to me, and I can give it to anyone I choose."


- Luke 4:5-6 NIV


The Bible's full of passages detailing the havoc caused by the great and fallen Archangel once called Lucifer or in Hebrew הילל בן־שׁחר Helel Ben-Shachar. Like the gravitational force of dark matter and energy, the effects of his ancient angelic rebellion and current campaign of temptation and terror, encompass the entire Earth.

There are hundreds of Bible verses
directly and indirectly referencing Satan's significance. Specific passages in the New King James Version include the usage of the name Lucifer (1), Satan (54), Devil (34), Dragon (13) and Evil One (5). Additionally, Scripture's use of words such as temptation (13), deception (6), pain (43), death (428), evil (491) and sin (1153) can be indirectly attributed to the architect of disobedience.

In regards to Lucifer's rebellion, two Old Testament passages supply the narrative of his fame and fall. Ezekiel provides a dual prophecy of the King of Tyre, and more importantly
Satan himself, by first chronicling his glorious stature and station, before detailing his original sin and future judgment:

  • “Son of man, take up a dirge (funeral poem to be sung) for the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “You had the full measure of perfection and the finishing touch [of completeness], Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz, and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx, and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise, and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and your sockets, was in you. They were prepared on the day that you were created. You were the anointed cherub who covers and protects, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire [sparkling jewels]." Ezekiel 28:12-14 AMP

  • You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created until unrighteousness and evil were found in you. “Through the abundance of your commerce you were internally filled with lawlessness and violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you out as a profane and unholy thing from the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was proud and arrogant because of your beauty; You destroyed your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I lay you before kings, That they might look at you. “You profaned your sanctuaries By the great quantity of your sins and the enormity of your guilt, By the unrighteousness of your trade. Therefore I have brought forth a fire from your midst; It has consumed you, And I have reduced you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who look at you. All the peoples (nations) who knew you are appalled at you; You have come to a horrible and terrifying end and will forever cease to be.” Ezekiel 28:15-19 AMP
The second primary Old Testament reference is found in Isaiah. Again the prophecy provides a quantum entanglement, this time taunting the king of Babylon and Satan the "god of this world." The passage winds back and forth: predicting God's deliverance before flashing back to Lucifer's fall and then forward to his ultimate destruction:

  • Can you believe it? The tyrant is gone! The tyranny is over! God has broken the rule of the wicked, the power of the bully-rulers That crushed many people. A relentless rain of cruel outrage established a violent rule of anger rife with torture and persecution. And now it’s over, the whole earth quietly at rest. Burst into song! Make the rafters ring! Ponderosa pine trees are happy, giant Lebanon cedars are relieved, saying, “Since you’ve been cut down, there’s no one around to cut us down.” And the underworld dead are all excited, preparing to welcome you when you come. Getting ready to greet you are the ghostly dead, all the famous names of earth. All the buried kings of the nations will stand up on their thrones with well-prepared speeches, royal invitations to death: “Now you are as nothing as we are! Make yourselves at home with us dead folks!” This is where your pomp and fine music led you, Babylon, to your underworld private chambers, A king-size mattress of maggots for repose and a quilt of crawling worms for warmth. Isaiah 14:4-11 MSG

  • "What a comedown this, O Babylon! Daystar! Son of Dawn! Flat on your face in the underworld mud, you, famous for flattening nations! You said to yourself, “I’ll climb to heaven. I’ll set my throne over the stars of God. I’ll run the assembly of angels that meets on sacred Mount Zaphon. I’ll climb to the top of the clouds. I’ll take over as King of the Universe!” But you didn’t make it, did you? Instead of climbing up, you came down—Down with the underground dead, down to the abyss of the Pit. People will stare and muse: Can this be the one who terrorized earth and its kingdoms,  turned earth to a moonscape, wasted its cities, shut up his prisoners to a living death? Other kings get a decent burial, honored with eulogies and placed in a tomb. But you’re dumped in a ditch unburied, like a stray dog or cat, covered with rotting bodies, murdered and indigent corpses. Your dead body desecrated, mutilated—no state funeral for you! You’ve left your land in ruins, left a legacy of massacre. The progeny of your evil life will never be named. Oblivion! Get a place ready to slaughter the sons of the wicked and wipe out their father’s line. Unthinkable that they should own a square foot of land or desecrate the face of the world with their cities!" Isaiah 14:12-21 MSG


The Devil's Due

Among the New Testament's many references, Jesus dedicates a substantial portion of the Lord's Prayer to emphasize the power of Satan's
temptations:

  • "Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9-13 NLT
Another crucial passage, Revelation 12:7-12, is a colossal find in the world of theological archeology. In a few verses we may be given as much insight into Satan's heavenly rebellion, and it's future effects on Earth, as the rest of the Bible combined:

  • And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon: and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has cone down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” Revelation 12:7-12 NKJV
Biblical prophecy provides glimpses of amazing past and future events penned millennia ago. In this case, Revelation's timeline places this coming angelic conflict about midway through the Great Tribulation. Just before the Antichrist is revealed, and prior to the Rapture of the Church. Here are just a few of Revelation 12:7’s amazing insights:

  • Satan and his fallen angels are not on earth but in Heaven. “And war broke out in heaven…The dragon and his angels fought.”
  • They have been in Heaven for eons. Perhaps since the Ascension of Christ or even Lucifer’s insurrection: "nor was a place found for them in Heaven any longer.”
  • Up to this point Satan the Devil, acts as Accuser or Prosecutor, revealing a trial in Heaven's Supreme Court.
  • This and other Scriptures suggest that the original Luciferian rebellion has yet to be completely judged and dealt with.
  • Satan, accompanied by his angels, accuses mankind and the church "day and night,” while his demonic cohort carry out his earthly campaign of deception and worse.
  • This Heavenly Supreme Court Trial may well have begun with the angelic rebellion, possibly predating the creation of Earth. Or even that of the universe.
  • Any such trial would be far from a farce, requiring real rules and consequences. Implying an Agreement and perhaps a Wager.
  • The trial ends with full scale war. Likely the first throughout the history of Heaven.
  • Only after the Devil's expulsion from Heaven is Christ's Kingdom and power announced.
  • Heaven rejoices at Satan and his angels being cast to the Earth.
  • Earth is warned of the Devil's wrath and of further Great Tribulation.
Outside of Scripture, Satan rarely gets his due. Foremost among the reasons why are two fundamental concepts all but universally overlooked:

1. Creation Is At War: Careful Scriptural archeology and Biblical forensics reveals much. By stitching scores of passages together, a theological theme emerges revealing Who created the multiverse and why. The truth about Lucifer's Rebellion and how it effects Heaven and Earth. How the trial in Eternity's Supreme Court overflows into the affairs of men.

It can’t be overstated that according to the context of Scripture, spiritual conflict is not a mythical analogy, but rather eternity’s reality. In fact, in a variety of ways, a myriad of Biblical passages and conflict Scriptures attest to the unpleasant fact that all creation is at war with (alongside or against) God. There is no neutral territory.

Consider Christ's quantum parable of the Sheep and Goats. It is an event that will take place at a designated future place and time. It is true that all of mankind will be separated into those entering everlasting punishment” and “the righteous into eternal life.” It is not true that people are sheep and goats. Although “sheeple” often seems an apt metaphor. It is true that Jesus is the savior of all men.” Here and elsewhere, Scripture reveals that all humanity is loosed from the power of the first death through universal resurrection. A shared benefit of Christ’s costly atonement. It is not true that this translates to universal salvation. Just ask the goats. As well as the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Here, according to Jesus, not only sins of commission, but omission, carry an eternal penalty:

  • “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:41-46 NKJV

Notice the wording of Christ's warning. "Everlasting fire" was prepared for "the devil and his angles." And by extension, members of humanity failing to rightly recognize and appropriately resist Satan's rebellion and tyranny.


Such
conflict theology partially explains the Bible’s harsh or even horrible accounts of earthly conquest. For example, consider one of Scripture’s most gruesome passages of Divinely sanctioned genocide:

  • “Moses said to the people, “Some of you must take arms to wage Jehovah’s war against Midian…  And every man of Midian was killed. Among those killed were all five of the Midianite kings—Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba. Balaam, the son of Beor, was also killed. Then the Israeli army took as captives all the women and children, and seized the cattle and flocks and a lot of miscellaneous booty. All of the cities, towns, and villages of Midian were then burned… but Moses was very angry with the army officers and battalion leaders. “Why have you let all the women live?” he demanded. “These are the very ones who followed Balaam’s advice and caused the people of Israel to worship idols on Mount Peor, and they are the cause of the plague that destroyed us. Now kill all the boys and all the women who have had sexual intercourse. Only the little girls may live; you may keep them for yourselves.” Numbers 31:2-18 TLB

Today such atrocities are rightly deemed inexcusable. Though genocide continues to devastate millions. In its day such slaughters were all too common. How dreadful the massacre of Midian. Commanded to obliterate five kingdoms in revenge for having seduced Israel to sin, the soldiers killed every man, including the rogue prophetBalaam son of Beor.” Plundering the dead and looting the cities, they captured livestock and took women and children as slaves. One of many incidents closely examined in Paul Copan’s insightful book, “Is God A Moral Monster?”

Upon returning, the army’s leaders were
rebuked by Moses on God’s behalf. At his command, already covered in the blood and gore of every man of Midian. They were forced to execute all the women, non virgin girls and every boy. How can a good and loving Creator so treat His creation? Fallen or otherwise?

Some justify God by suggesting the
evil Midianites had it coming. No doubt they were far from perfect. It’s likely the Midianites had, and/or would have, done as much to others. It’s also true mankind has an inherent inward witness of right and wrong. The passage itself explains they had already led God’s fledgling people into judgment for immorality and idolatry. Furthermore, God’s warning that cohabiting with wicked Canaanites would lead to more of the same, proved true on numerous occasions. Nevertheless, it takes little effort to imagine ourselves, and those we love, as Midianites under God’s blade. And this while never having benefited from the training in godliness Abraham’s descendants were given generations to absorb.

By definition Omnity is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent. By implication
God is also good. At least as eternity defines it. Moreover, as previously discussed, the incarnation and inconceivably costly atonement of Christ give credence to the same. Additionally Scripture explains:

  • “This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.” Isaiah 55:8-9 TLB

Differences between humanity and Omnity are glaringly evident. Often producing unfortunate silence and distance on both parts. Nevertheless, we owe it to ourselves, and others, to take God up on His gracious and hopeful offer to come now, and let and reason together.” Along with explanations already given for the destruction of Midian, consider another somewhat less obvious rationale from an eternal perspective. Like it or not, the multiverse; i.e. First, Second and Third Heaven, and all its considerable fullness, belong to their Creator. This includes all the space-time, matter and energy comprising our universe and galaxy, solar system and planet. For the sake of argument, let’s say God’s plan of putting down the Luciferian rebellion, while simultaneously offering indescribable and glorious redemption to mankind, required a little geography. Throughout our entire universe Omnity chooses to annex, and that for only a few thousands years out of billions, a comparatively tiny territory about the size of New Jersey.

Why? To provide an unprecedented offer of eternal glory to His people the Jews and through them, in the fullness of time,
all of mankind. Still seem too much to ask? Maybe. But remember, ours and countless generations before and after are beneficiaries of Omnity’s plan and Christ's costly atonement. Should we choose to fully participate.

Down through millennia Scripture continues to whisper and shout there is far more going on than is immediately apparent. This is why the Bible warns that God’s promise of reward is reserved for those
diligently, rather than casually, seeking Him. With Hell to loose and Heaven to gain, could even Omnity provide greater motivation? Primary reasons for both Old Testament narratives and the New Testament's call to arms.


Yet, for a
variety of reasons, the overwhelming vast majority of modern Christians refuse to accept Biblical insight and warning.

Nevertheless, comprehension of the 
context of Scripture is vital to understanding its content. While no longer in vogue, Scripture's context is most certainly one of warfare theology. Like the whodunnit story of Job, considered by many to be the oldest Book of the Bible and perhaps its key codex, conflict between God the "Lord of Hosts" (angel armies) and Satan the "prince of the power of the air" (god of this world), provides the backdrop to Job's story. And much, if not all, the entire Old and New Testaments. As exemplified in a couple of familiar passages referencing conflict with the fallen angelic:

  • "When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross." Colossians 2:15 AMP

  • " Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:7-8 NKJV 
Such verses and scores of other conflict Scriptures suggest the content of Scripture can only be fully understood by embracing the Bible's overarching context. They testify that the content of Scripture can only be fully understood by embracing the Bible's overarching context. Again, a task for which modern Christianity, not to mention the developed world, are ill equipped. Not surprising when the the vast majority of Christians are not only prayerless (stopping to pray less than 5-10 minutes a day) but Biblically illiterate (unable to quote, much less rightly understand and apply even 5-10 verses in a row). 

Another challenge is the Bible itself. For a variety reasons, Scripture was not designed as a simple instruction manual. Its various books and chapters, passages and verses, were neither written or arranged topically. And while often cited as why, Scripture's compilation by more than 30 authors over a period of 1,500 years is not the only reason

2. Life Is A Test: For some, the ancient adage, "Life's a test" is more obvious than for others. Nevertheless, this universal truth is Scriptural in nature. Even for those fortunate enough to live in the modern world, were life’s battlefield may seem far removed. With technological advances all but conquering basic challenges, we savor the ease of victory. We not only enjoy, but daily take for granted, an incredible array of blessings. Something as common as a grocery store would have seemed a godsend to previous generations. Even a simple meal meant raising and catching the chicken, killing and plucking the chicken, gutting and then cooking the chicken on a wood burning stove. That's if there was even a chicken to be had. Out of the perhaps 100 billion who've every lived, only a few percent could even imagine picking one up ready to eat at the market or at a drive through window on the way home.

Afforded amazing advances in science technology, in many ways we posses power the greatest kings could hardly of imagined. For all his wealth, could King Solomon catch a plane and arrive half way around the globe in a matter of hours? Did he ever once jump in a car and race seventy miles an hour on smoothly paved roads enjoying air conditioning? Did his smart phone allow real time conversations with anyone anywhere on Earth or offer music from thousands of artists?

And what of knowledge? How many of the wisest men even knew the Earth was round? Did they have access to half the facts fifth graders take for granted? Could they Google any question and answer, instantly accessing the ever increasing sum of human knowledge? Time would fail to list all the marvels we enjoy. From science and technology to food and housing. From law and order to police and military protection. From health care and social programs to entertainment and travel…

On the flip side, Jesus warned, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." An even more crucial concern with spiritual conflict at an all time high. Subtle as it is certain, challenges to Christianity abound. While woefully one-sided, the Church is at war. From ubiquitous levels of demonic temptation and deception, to devilish apathy and inverted morality. An ever increasing number of serious threats are creating a culture of billions of spiritual refugees. With far more on the way.

The New Testament succinctly warns
we will each give account of all we've done or failed to do, every idle word and perhaps our every thought. Such exacting standards, with no less than Heaven and Hell at stake, provide compelling evidence of an examination with everlasting consequence.

Thankfully, life as faith itself, is an
open Book test. And what a Book! In the Bible alone, religion and science reach their zenith. As do every other genre. From action and adventure, to crime and mystery. From thriller and occult, to fantasy and science fiction. Each on a global and eternal scale!  
 
Like many final exams, Scripture explains eternity's test has several components. When it comes to
salvation, Christ and His apostles placed their greatest emphasis on living faith. The only two times Jesus is directly asked how to get to Heaven, the Good Samaritan and the Rich Young Ruler, He explains the best way to love God is by caring for the poor and needy. The same holds true in regards to the Sheep and Goats, as well as the Rich Man and Lazarus which provides the only Biblically recorded conversation between humans in the afterlife!

This does not bold well for a world of have and have not's. Against which coming
judgment hardly needs to be Divine. Global specters of violence and war, abuse and slavery, immorality and abortion, poverty and economic inequalityclimate change and nuclear holocaust present current and future global threats. As do viral pandemic and artificial intelligencecyber tech and bioterrorism issues. Many reseting the 2020 Doomsday Clock of Atomic Scientists to 100 seconds to midnight. Closer than ever before.

Additional exam points may well be rewarded for our level of care and attention to life's
great questions. As scored by eternity's perspective. How carefully have we invested the perviously undreamed of blessings of modern life? Have we correctly discerned the reasonableness of faith? Particularly when it comes to life's ultimate concerns? To what degree do we believe that God is and a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? How well do we appreciate all we've been given, including the promise and potential of Christianity? Are we earnest in sorting through the many Christ's to find the One true? Have we studied enough to recognize the correct version of the Gospel? In matters of following Christ, are we worldly and lukewarm or sanctified and radically obedient?

An essential element of faith's test is to what degree we appropriately responded to the ramifications of conflict theology.
If Christianity’s a cruise ship, sailing merrily from here to Heaven, then certainly Christ's costly atonement is sufficient. The cross of Christ is indeed all anyone could ever need. If however, Heaven and Earth are currently at war with fallen angels and devils, Christianity is a battleship and we must follow our Commander and Chief's example and directives by daily shouldering our own.

Even if Christianity could be likened to a pleasure cruise, given Churchianity’s collision course with so many modern temptations and deceptions, up to an including immorality and the blood red mountainous iceberg of abortion, in certain respects might even many well intended ministries be reduced to simply arranging deck chairs on the Titanic?

So is Christianity a cruise or gunship? We must decide. And do so quickly and carefully. Military directives and drills, cramped quarters and sea rations, would be absurd on a pleasure cruise. So too, civilian itineraries and activities, opulent suites and sumptuous banquets, would be anathema during a time of war.  

Previous generations understood the serious nature of the spiritual war in which we are engulfed. Its reality filled their prayers and even worship. Reflecting the difficulties of their day, traditional hymns were infused with Scripture. Filled with inspiring lyrics of loyalty and camaraderie, their melodies were meant to encourage and provide solace in the face of hardship. Like bugle calls to reveille, such battle songs of heaven's republic served as constant reminders of the blessed hope the faithful have in God.

Today, not so much. Seeker friendly and inappropriately intimate worship has largely replaced the kinds of beloved hymns of deliverance once sung around the world. Such as the great Protestant reformer Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress Is Our God:

A mighty Fortress is our God, A Bulwark never failing;
Our Helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our
ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal
.

Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, The Man of God's own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth His Name, From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world,
with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The
Prince of Darkness grim, We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God's truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever
.

"Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also; The body they may kill…" Tall order for anyone in any generation. Much less the vast majority of modern Christians which again are not only prayerless (stopping to pray less than 5-10 minutes a day) but Biblically illiterate (unable to quote, much less rightly understand and apply even 5-10 verses in a row). 

Here, and elsewhere, it's clear our spiritual forefathers understood the difference between glorification of the Devil, verse the need to reveal his presence and the peril around us. Out of spiritual insight into our situation, and respect for the
authority of God's Word, they were careful to neither ignore nor revile angelic majesties. Both common and costly mistakes against which Scripture warns. A particularly important practice when preparing to survive and thrive in the face of the kind of spiritual warfare conflict theology reveals.

The Bible explains that both personally, and as a species, mankind faces the deadly foe of sin on three fronts. Sin within, resulting from individual and inherited fallen natures. Sin above, in the form of devilish and demonic temptation and deception. And Sin about, the collective and cumulative effect of sin within and above. In regards to sin from above, the New Testament is quite adamant:

  • "And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels." Ephesians 6:10-12 MSG

  • "Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord. But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed." 2 Peter 2:10-12 NASB

As with all Scriptural truth,
spiritual discernment is required if we hope to correctly interpret and live out Biblical mandates and principles:

  • "The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you’re thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that he not only knows what he’s thinking, but he lets us in on it." 1 Corinthians 2:12-13 MSG

  • "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 NIV
Discerning the full reality and repercussions of Satan's existence and nature is difficult on a variety of levels. All the more so when Biblical revelation is marginalized or relegated to mythological status throughout the modern world. In this case, a fault as foolish as it would have been for occupied France to have dismissed or denied Hitler as a threat during the Nazi invasion. The fact that modern civilization prides itself on spiritual ignorance is evidence, in and of itself, of the Evil One's nefarious and sinister art and craft.

As the original and supreme master manipulator, the Devil's impressive resume includes inciting ancient and advanced, holy and glorious angels to
rebel within Heaven itself. Not to mention his firm track record of deceiving God's anointed. At the root of modern Christianity's greatest failures is the presumption that we are above archaic notions of devilish resistance and deception. A commonly held conviction rendered all the more ridiculous given Christianity's hundreds of sects, various Christ and versions of the Gospel. A false assumption infiltrating a linty of crucial doctrines ranging from God's unconditional acceptance to sanctification, appropriate worship to spiritual gifts, eschatology to salvation itself.

Such a mindset has proven disastrous for God's people down through the ages. The original sin of spiritual pride and entitlement greatly affected the lives and legacies of even such notables as Samson, David and Solomon. All mightily anointed men extraordinarily empowered. While Samson become a byword for foolishness, David for faithfulness, and Solomon for wisdom, they and their sacred trusts were all but unseated by Satan.

As Israel’s thirteenth Judge, Samson, a real life Hercules, failed to overthrow Israel’s oppressors. A feat accomplished by several of his far weaker counterparts during their service as Israel’s deliverer and judge. As Israel’s second King, David, while a uniquely successful warrior and leader, psalmist and prophet, failed to protect Israel’s spiritual and national unity. Gains he’d spent a lifetime achieving. An unfortunate heritage handed down to his son Solomon and many of his decedents. In regards to deceiving God’s anointed, there are interesting differences and similarities between them:

  • Samson: Birth heralded in a pair of theophanies, arising from two separate visitations by the Angel of the Lord. An Old Testament title denoting the pre-incarnate Christ. In fact, there are more instructions pertaining to Samson’s birth and upbringing than any other personage in all of Scripture. Born and raised under oppression, his anointing was largely waisted. Through a lustful fiasco with Delilah, the name Samson became synonymous with gullibility. Failed to lead Israel into freedom from its oppressors.

  • David: Unremarkable birth. Remarkable childhood as a young shepherd dispatching lions and bears. Anointed by Samuel before slaying Goliath. Conquered all enemies and lead Israel into its golden age. Instigated the ruin of much of his family and life’s work through unbelievably out of character capitulation to first ludicrous adultery with Bathsheba (given he had multiple wives and could have taken any and many virgins in Israel), followed by the orchestration of the traitorous murder of her husband Uriah. Inconceivably, having failed to learn his lesson, Satan again successfully tempted David. This time to take a forbidden census, resulting in a death sentence for 70,000 Israelites by means of God unleashing a deadly a 3-day plague.

At the very least, such accounts are meant to serve as extreme cautionary tales. At worst, they are typological warnings of warfare theology. To the likes of which Churchianity seems all but oblivious. Little wonder Scripture warns:

  • "Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8 AMP

  • "But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ." 2 Corinthians 11:3 NIV

  • "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve." 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 NIV

  • "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Matthew 24:24 NIV

  • "The coming of the [Antichrist, the lawless] one is through the activity of Satan, [attended] with great power [all kinds of counterfeit miracles] and [deceptive] signs and false wonders [all of them lies], and by unlimited seduction to evil and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are perishing, because they did not welcome the love of the truth [of the gospel] so as to be saved [they were spiritually blind, and rejected the truth that would have saved them]." 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 AMP

  • "The Beast had a loud mouth, boastful and blasphemous. It could do anything it wanted for forty-two months. It yelled blasphemies against God, blasphemed his Name, blasphemed his Church, especially those already dwelling with God in Heaven. It was permitted to make war on God’s holy people and conquer them. It held absolute sway over all tribes and peoples, tongues and races. Everyone on earth whose name was not written from the world’s foundation in the slaughtered Lamb’s Book of Life will worship the Beast." Revelation 13:7-8 MSG

  • "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes." Ephesians 6:11 NIV

  • "But the [Holy] Spirit explicitly and unmistakably declares that in later times some will turn away from the faith, paying attention instead to deceitful and seductive spirits and doctrines of demons, [misled] by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared as with a branding iron [leaving them incapable of ethical functioning]." 1 Timothy 4:1-2 AMP

  • "Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will." 2 Timothy 2:25-26 NIV

  • "I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does take place, you may believe and have faith [in Me]. I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of the world (Satan) is coming. And he has no claim on Me [no power over Me nor anything that he can use against Me]." John 14:29-10 AMP

  • "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." John 8:44 NIV

  • "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 NIV
The "thief" in John 10:10 is a metaphor with many meanings. Yet they all find their ultimate origin and expression in the "father of lies." As the architect of temptation and sin, violence and murder, Satan has laid waist to human history. An offensive that includes engineering the suffering and death of untold billions.

Scripture assures that all acts of hostility, and even neglect, will have a day of reckoning. Consider Christ's spiritually quantum parable of the Sheep and Goats. It is an event that will take place at a designated future place and time. It is true that all of mankind will be separated into those entering everlasting punishment” and “the righteous into eternal life.” It is not true that people are sheep and goats. Although “sheeple” often seems an apt metaphor. It is true that Jesus is “the savior of all men.” Here and elsewhere, Scripture reveals that all humanity is loosed from the power of the first death through universal resurrection. A shared benefit of Christ’s costly atonement. It is not true that this translates to universal salvation. Just ask the goats. As well as the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
 
For nearly 50 years, Satan's campaign of terror has included the slaughter of two billion or more through clinical and contraceptive abortion. That's equivalent to the murder of 5 to 10 times the entire planet's population when Jesus walked the Earth. Certainly the most helpless of humanity qualify as Christ's "least brothers" whom Jesus identifies as Himself. Such shedding of innocent blood is a clear and flagrant violation of a multitude of Biblical directives, including the great commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself." As two souls living in the same body, the pre-born are the consummate neighbor.

Abortion also provides Satan, mankind's Accuser and Prosecutor, damaging if not damning evidence against not only modern society, but Churchianity as well.

The Devil's orchestration of the abortion of billions has achieved his
primarysecondary and tertiary objectives. Thankfully all who die as children go to Heaven. Tragically, those accountable for their deaths do not. Abortion's primary purpose has always been to undermine Satan's earthly enemy by enticing modern Christianity to take part, condone or simply respond inappropriately. Few are as authentically pro-life as they are led to believe. The spiritual ramifications of abortion and the Church are unprecedented. Like an unchecked computer virus or viral pandemic, abortion is confounding our prayers and worship, communion and even salvation.

Through abortion and a litany of
sins of commission and omission, the Thief's greatest heist has been to manipulate Churchianity into continually grieving, if not blaspheming, the Holy Spirit. By trillions of inappropriate thoughts and attitudes, words and acts, believers today reveal and reinforce spiritual insensitively to both the Word of God and its ultimate Author. The principal result of which has been to rob modern Christianity, and thus the world we are commissioned to reach, of the Divine fruit and gifts of the Spirit. Many of which, such as the gift of miraculous healing, may be more vital today than ever.



Last Days

Scripture explains
history repeats itself. Given this and other considerations, the last days may well resemble the first. Jesus himself predicted a correlation between past and future events, explaining the end times would be as in the days of Noah. While there are many applications of this passage, a primary reason for God's judgment against mankind in Noah’s day was an astonishing assault by fallen angels against the human race.

Likely the foundation of 
ancient mythology, the full extent of fallen angelic influence on mankind, both then and now, remains unknown and provides the context of GB’s work of Biblical faction entitled, Eternity...The Wager. As previously mentioned, what we do know is that the Book of Revelation foretells of a fantastic war in Heaven that may well have the gravest of implications to all life on Earth. One of which is a transfer of Satan's power to first his earthly Antichrist and then the False Prophet.

Such Scriptures denote a coming global domination and apocalypse through Satanic influence and power. The introduction of which could take place in any number of ways. From gradual incrementalism of unwitting governments and societies, to more 
nefarious social and spiritual scenarios. Up to and including a final New World Order ushering in the Devil's Man of sin.

While we are told Satan uses the Antichrist and False Prophet to due his bidding, it's uncertain how and/or to what extent the fallen angelic race fully reveals itself to mankind. Should they so choose, and be allowed to do so, 
they might take any number of forms. Appearances ranging from inspired human leaders, to miracle working messiah figures. From advanced alien visitors, to refugee angels fighting against an unjust God.

What is foretold, and quite plausible, is the institution of planetary governance and control through supernatural power and advanced technology. A hallmark of which is the introduction of a universally mandated implanted chip, identified by Scripture as the Mark of the Beast.

The global impact of such unprecedented events can hardly be over stated. Depending on the manner and depth of disclosure and influence, the possible spiritual and social, political and economic, scientific and technological ramifications are beyond staggering.

Throughout the last two millennia, there have been those whom in times of great distress have felt certain the Book of Revelation's
Great Tribulation was at hand. Christ did assure, "But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven’s angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows." Nevertheless, discerning the times and the seasons is another matter. Christians are commanded to correctly discern everything. Jesus warned, "Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.." Truth itself must be spiritually discerned. We are called to comprehend the challenges inherent in the day and time in which we live. During the time of war, the Old Testament tribe of Issachar distinguished themselves as "men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do." So too, Prophetic Christians are called to grow in both heavenly wisdom and perception:

  • "But be on your guard. Don’t let the sharp edge of your expectation get dulled by parties and drinking and shopping. Otherwise, that Day is going to take you by complete surprise, spring on you suddenly like a trap, for it’s going to come on everyone, everywhere, at once. So, whatever you do, don’t go to sleep at the switch. Pray constantly that you will have the strength and wits to make it through everything that’s coming and end up on your feet before the Son of Man." Luke 21:34-36 MSG

  • "But you, believers, [all you who believe in Christ as Savior and acknowledge Him as God’s Son] are not in spiritual darkness [nor held by its power], that the day [of judgment] would overtake you [by surprise] like a thief; for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We do not belong to the night nor to darkness. So then let us not sleep [in spiritual indifference] as the rest [of the world does], but let us keep wide awake [alert and cautious] and let us be sober [self-controlled, calm, and wise]. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who are drunk get drunk at night. But since we [believers] belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope and confident assurance of salvation." 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 AMP
Passages as these, and scores like them, reinforce the serious nature of the often covert spiritual warfare engulfing mankind. All the more so in the last days:

  • "You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and will think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel, and sneer at those who try to be good. They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride, and prefer good times to worshiping God. They will go to church, yes, but they won’t really believe anything they hear. Don’t be taken in by people like that." 2 Timothy 3:1-5 TLB

  • "A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 24:45-51 NLT
Sadly for us, Scripture has little good to say about the last days. The Bible warns that the end times will be marked by sin and suffering, tribulation and terror. As if the long held grip of Satan, "the god of this world," was closing in on mankind after millennia of strategic preparation.

By now it should be easy to see that conflict theology is as compelling as it is disregarded. It alone provides the context necessary to synchronize the whole of Scripture. From Genesis' accounts of creation and Eden's loss, to Revelation's
Great Tribulation and New Heaven and Earth. Even so, it would seem to leave a gapping whole. Why would a good and loving, all knowing and powerful God, permit Satan's ancient and cataclysmic angelic rebellion. Not to mention his current and coming destructive earthly terrorism?

Those who take the genuine Biblical narrative seriously generally offer one or both of the following two solutions regarding the intractable
problem of evil:

1. Free Will: To have been created with free will implies God is neither responsible for, or in control of, the moral agency of angels or mankind. This popular theology suggest the problem of mitigating the misuse of free will is akin to a series of interesting questions. Can God create an area too large for Him to fill? Can God create a puzzle too difficult for Him to solve? Can God create a rock too heavy for Him to lift?

Scripture's simple answer to each is no. By definition, Divinity or Omnity, requires a minimum of five characteristics. Eternal self existence, Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence and Immutability. The God the Bible possesses not only Omnity, but Tri-Omnity. If it existed, free will would hardly be a rock too heavy for God to lift.

Scripture's answer to the problem of free will is that it is a misnomer. Only God can or could possess free will. Mankind possess extremely limited and fleeting
partially free will. Angels, while more endowed, are still limited in a variety of ways.

2. Divine Nature: God is either unable or unwilling to control evil. God cannot be both good and all powerful, to have and continue to allow suffering and malevolence. Yet, as shown above, Scripture and simple reason agree such an answer violates the very nature of God.

The riddle is easily answered. When compared to the Creator, all creation and/or created beings are infinitesimal. Both in nature and status. From this perspective, the limited free will of moral agency need not be usurped to be directed. Redirecting thoughts and/or behavior would be less difficult for Omnity than a human scientist directing rats in a maze. And that by an infinite order of magnitude.

Should these assertions prove true, another pair of questions arise:


Question 1: Could God have created moral agency without the ability to sin?

Answer: The very definition of Omnity would suggest yes. Nothing is impossible with God. Scripture repeatedly supports this assertion. Additionally, unfallen angels and redeemed mankind are destined to possess limited free will in an eternal state without sin. Most attribute this to having overcome rebellion's temptation once and for all. If so, a spiritually quantum state of equilibrium in regards to moral agency is possible. It's then
reasonable to assume such an option would have been available to Omnity from the beginning.

Question 2: If able and willing, why hasn't God removed the presence of suffering and evil. Not to mention the Evil One?

Answer: He will. Here again the final solution is two fold. Time vs. eternity and Theocentric vs. anthropocentric.

Time vs. Eternity: To more fully appreciate the whole counsel of God one must become fluid in transitioning between temporal and everlasting truths. Developing an eternal mindset while living in real time may be mankind's most singular challenge. Jesus recognized that for those entrenched in, much less embattled by daily concerns, fully believing in His message was nothing short of the very "work of God."

Consider as well the apostle Paul. As the poster child for suffering in the Book of Acts, Paul offers a unique perspective on the subject hard won by personal experience. Beaten five times within a lash of his life by the Jews, God's and his own people, his 195 scars attest to his care and compassion,
endurance and expertise in sufferology. Persecution he attributed to a messenger of Satan allowed to batter his body in response to his incredible revelations.

While the apostle Paul may have been an extreme case, his and other New testament letters to the church reveal the emergence of a radical worldview. One that embraces, rather than avoids suffering, when an eternal timescale is applied:

  • "For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we really are God’s children. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures—for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering." Romans 8-16-17 TLB

  • "Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later. For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect his children. For on that day thorns and thistles, sin, death, and decay—the things that overcame the world against its will at God’s command—will all disappear, and the world around us will share in the glorious freedom from sin which God’s children enjoy." Romans 8-18-21 TLB

  • "Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself. 2 Timothy 2:11-13 NIV

  • "It's in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This signet from God is the first installment on what's coming, a reminder that we'll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life." Ephesians 1:13-14 MSG

  • "And so here I am, preaching and writing about things that are way over my head, the inexhaustible riches and generosity of Christ. My task is to bring out in the open and make plain what God, who created all this in the first place, has been doing in secret and behind the scenes all along. Through followers of Jesus like yourselves gathered in churches, this extraordinary plan of God is becoming known and talked about even among the angels!" Ephesians 3:8-10 MSG

  • "But everyone knows that you stand loyal and true. This makes me very happy. I want you always to remain very clear about what is right and to stay innocent of any wrong. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The blessings from our Lord Jesus Christ be upon you." Romans 16:19-20 TLB

Theocentric vs. Anthropocentric
: Millions, if not billions, of Christians recognize that God, rather than mankind, is the ultimate focal point of existence. At least up to a point. While a correct mindset, this worldview often fails to translate into the kind of living faith and radical discipleship the Bible requires. Hence the worldliness running rampant within modern Christianity. Not to mention the loss of Kingdom power, evidenced through the scarcity of the genuine fruit and gifts of the Spirit.

While more subtle, there is a similar inconvenient truth few modern believers care to acknowledge. A crucial component to understanding the context, and thus content, of not only Scripture but temporal and eternal existence.
During this current epoch of eternity, angels are far nearer the center of Heaven's reality and concern than mankind.

Simply put,
it's not really about us. Not yet.

The evidence of this actuality is demonstrated by the very stars in the sky. A source of constant assistance and wonder, for millennia they've proved both useful and inspiring. From navigation and exploration assistance to a twinkling and romantic backdrop for lovers.
Yet science reveals that while helpful and appropriate from our current reference point, simplistic earthy perspectives disguises their true power and stature, age and glory.

So too, mortal and earthly life hardly holds a candle to the immortal and eternal.

Take a moment to consider how and by Whom angels were created. Ponder the extraordinary nature implicit in their quality of existence and inconceivable life spans. Imagine the vast knowledge and stunning society they've enjoyed for ages beyond time. By comparison the entire human race was born yesterday and dies tomorrow. Mankind is literally little more than an afterthought.

In Heaven life must be shared in ways impossible elsewhere. Forever unfolding in an eternal now experienced without hinderance or interruption. By and for everyone. Individually and corporately. Communally, the light of eternal life must fill all in all. Time casts no dark shadows. Its populace knows no emptiness or isolation. No misunderstanding or betrayal. No pain of separation or death. Such perfect community must serve to strengthen personal identity. Free of fear and disappointment, individuals and relationships blossom under an eternal springtime sun, not just here and there but everywhere and with everyone.

ven so Heaven is under siege, its perfection marred since Lucifer’s Insurrection. Unparalleled bliss mingles with devilish disfunction as its citizenry rejoice, enjoying God and everything good, while grieving over the fall of perhaps billions of their brethren. And over their continued presence as well. To its citizens dismay, darkened spirits now share its transparent streets of gold and hallowed sites with their faithful, unfallen counterparts, as well as with a growing community of Earth’s redeemed.

Given Scripture's heavenly narrative, and in keeping with Job's scenario, could the human race be immersed in Heaven's whodunnit play? An eternal wager comprising the greatest story never told. Might mankind's very existence be a result of angelic conflict theology?

If so, few appreciate the astounding truth.
Also three assertions seem necessary. First, even among the angels, Omnity must conceal the full extent of Their power and glory. Second, there had never before been a revolt. Third, in light of the combined might and wisdom of Lucifer and his angels, the rebellion had reason to believe they could in some way win.

As for God, whatever other reasons the Trinity had for delaying sentencing, one seems certain. Heaven had never seen its Creator’s wrath. Therefore, prior to excising the cancer of so great an angelic rebellion, Omnity would first administer Divine anesthesia. Before enacting so awful a judgment against perhaps billions of unimaginably glorious and ancient beings, God would first dare an even more awe-full display of inconceivable mercy.

For such an act, Earth would provide a proving ground. Humanity the supporting cast. And God would become not only
man, but sin:

  • "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV
And in doing so, Christ not only provided glorious redemption for mankind, but reassured the angelic faithful of God's meekness and mercy, love and faithfulness, wisdom and authority in preparation for the surgical removal of perhaps a third of Heaven's glorious and ancient angelic population:

  • "He has forgiven you all your sins: Christ has utterly wiped out the damning evidence of broken laws and commandments which always hung over our heads, and has completely annulled it by nailing it over his own head on the cross. And then having drawn the sting of all the powers ranged against us, he exposed them, shattered, empty and defeated, in his final glorious triumphant act!" Colossians 2:17-19 PHILLIPS
As previously referenced, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." How? By His inconceivable incarnation and lowly birth, humble family and life, meek ministry and miracles, painful crucifixion and atonement, unprecedented resurrection and ascension, heavenly intercession and Second Advent:

  • “They wondered what the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about, for he told them to write down the events which, since then, have happened to Christ: his suffering, and his great glory afterwards. And they wondered when and to whom all this would happen. They were finally told that these things would not occur during their lifetime, but long years later, during yours. And now at last this Good News has been plainly announced to all of us. It was preached to us in the power of the same heaven-sent Holy Spirit who spoke to them; and it is all so strange and wonderful that even the angels in heaven would give a great deal to know more about it. 1 Peter 1:11-12 Living Bible - Emphasis QC’s
Mankind is surely a recent development on eternity's stage. Ending Satan's angelic rebellion is certainly a, if not the, primary purpose of Christ incarnation. Nevertheless, mankind yet holds an exceptional place in the elaborate plan of redemption. One worthy of a moments pause before rejecting Humanity’s downgrade from the imagined focal point. While far from anthropocentric, our place in Omnity’s plan is astounding. Through Christ's costly atonement, fully redeemed mankind shall be gloriously transfigured!

  • “But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own.” 1 John 3:2-3 MSG

  • “For our earthly bodies, the ones we have now that can die, must be transformed into heavenly bodies that cannot perish but will live forever. When this happens, then at last this Scripture will come true—“Death is swallowed up in victory.” O death, where then your victory? Where then your sting? For sin—the sting that causes death—will all be gone; and the law, which reveals our sins, will no longer be our judge.” 1 Corinthians 15:53-56 TLB
For Christ's sake, those worthy of such eternal transformation shall find themselves far above not only the pain and fear of mortality, but the entire creation including all angelic power and authority:

  • “Don’t you know that someday we Christians are going to judge and govern the world? So why can’t you decide even these little things among yourselves? Don’t you realize that we Christians will judge and reward the very angels in heaven? So you should be able to decide your problems down here on earth easily enough.” 1 Corinthians 6:2-3 TLB

  • Are not all the angels ministering spirits sent out [by God] to serve (accompany, protect) those who will inherit salvation? [Of course they are!]” Hebrews 1:14 AMP

  • To everyone who overcomes—who to the very end keeps on doing things that please me—I will give power over the nations. You will rule them with a rod of iron just as my Father gave me the authority to rule them; they will be shattered like a pot of clay that is broken into tiny pieces. And I will give you the Morning Star!  “Let all who can hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 2:26-29 TLB
Some suggest the promised “Morning Star” is in reference to Lucifer’s vacated privileged position as the arch angel of worship. Regardless, Paul makes it clear that inconceivable glory awaits those pleasing our Creator and Savior:

  • “That is what is meant by the Scriptures which say that no mere man has ever seen, heard, or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 TLB
In Perelandra, the second installment of C.S. Lewis’s fanciful “Out Of The Silent Planet” space trilogy, there is a quantum moment exquisitely illustrating the above assertion. In a final coronation scene of the Adam and Eve of Venus, the Spirit of prophecy reveals that like an immense and eternal jewel, each facet of creation plays both a leading and supporting role:

  • “Each thing was made for Him. He is the center. Because we are with Him, each of us is at the center. It is not as in a city of the Darkened World where they say that each must live for all. In His city all things are made for each. When He died in the Wounded World He died not for me, but for each man. If each man had been the only man made, he would have done no less. Each thing, from the single grain of dust to the strongest eldil (angel), is the end and the final cause of all creation and the mirror in which the beam of His brightness comes to rest and so returns to Him. Blessed be He! In the plan of the Great Dance plans without number interlock, and each movement becomes in its season the breaking into flower of the whole design to which all else had been directed. Thus each is equally at the center and none are there by being equals, but some by giving place and some by receiving it, the small things by their smallness and the great by their greatness, and all the patterns linked and looped together by the unions of a kneeling with a sceptred love. Blessed be He!”
Many argue that the subject of Satan is beyond the pale of orthodoxy. It's true Scripture warns against giving head to fables and myths, genealogies and misleading Devilish preoccupation. Then again, the Bible caution's against an endless array of subjects and practices, that when mishandled or overemphasized, open the door to heresy.

As previously mentioned, life and faith alike are designed as open Book tests. All Scriptural truth is to be cautiously examined and honestly received. A process as necessary for spiritual growth as food is for the body. A point made abundantly clear by the Author of Hebrews when attempting to discuss
Melchizedek with those unable to handle typology:

  • "I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square onebaby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong." Hebrews 5:11-14 MSG
In the fifth and sixth chapter of the Bible's Book of Hebrews the Author stresses the vital difference between our handling of spiritual milk and solid food in developing maturity and understanding. Interestingly, while greatly emphasizing the importance learning to chew the meat of Scripture, the writer never directly identifies what solid food is. He does however explain what it is not:

  • “So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding." Hebrews 6:1-3 NLT
Ask almost any a conservative, evangelical and/or charismatic minister what the "meat of the Word of God" is and you'll get a variation of the above description of the "basic teachings about Christ." It would seem the Holy Spirit is using a riddle or test to reinforce an important point. There is more to Scripture's revelation than elementary principles, Even important ones. In this case, the solid food or meat of this passage is the subject of Melchizedek, which opens and closes the teaching.

An interesting example of the intersection of
conflict theology and typology is the tragic story of Naaman, Elisha and his servant Gehazi. During a time of war with Syria, a letter from their king requested the king of Israel arrange for a high ranking officer of the Syrian army named Naaman be healed by of leprosy. "Thirty thousand pieces of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of fine clothes" were sent along as incentive.

Israel's king was beside himself with frustration. Hearing this, Elisha volunteered to fulfill the strange request. After some back and forth, Naaman was wonderfully healed, "
his flesh became firm and healthy like that of a child." Exuberant, Naaman happily offered payment. Elisha strongly refused, "By the living Lord, whom I serve, I swear that I will not accept a gift." When Elisha refused a second time, the Syrian commander began his return journey home.

Having time to think, Gehazi decided it was foolish to refuse Naaman's generous offer:

  • "He had gone only a short distance, when Elisha's servant Gehazi said to himself, "My master has let Naaman get away without paying a thing! He should have accepted what that Syrian offered him. By the living Lord I will run after him and get something from him." So he set off after Naaman. When Naaman saw a man running after him, he got down from his chariot to meet him, and asked, “Is something wrong?" "No," Gehazi answered. "But my master sent me to tell you that just now two members of the group of prophets in the hill country of Ephraim arrived, and he would like you to give them three thousand pieces of silver and two changes of fine clothes." "Please take six thousand pieces of silver," Naaman replied. He insisted on it, tied up the silver in two bags, gave them and two changes of fine clothes to two of his servants, and sent them on ahead of Gehazi. When they reached the hill where Elisha lived, Gehazi took the two bags and carried them into the house. Then he sent Naaman's servants back." 2 Kings 5:19-24 GNT
Afterward, Elisha questioned Gehazi:

  • "He went back into the house, and Elisha asked him, "Where have you been?" "Oh, nowhere, sir," he answered. But Elisha said, "Wasn't I there in spirit when the man got out of his chariot to meet you? This is no time to accept money and clothes, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and cattle, or servants! And now Naaman's disease will come upon you, and you and your descendants will have it forever!" When Gehazi left, he had the disease—his skin was as white as snow." 2 Kings 5:25-27 GNT
Quantum Christianity suggests Scripture's strange stories and passages should not quickly be overlooked. In fact, when handled with care, several nuggets of costly truth appear.

Elisha is clearly a type of Christ for a variety of reasons. He received
twice the spiritual power of Elijah, who called fire out of heaven three times. Elijah was also a type of John the Baptist, and the forerunner of Jesus. The Bible records only Elisha and Jesus healing leprosy. Elisha was famously compassionate. As when subsequently striking the Syrian army blind. Then, rather than destroying the enemy, Elisha healed and fed them before setting them free.

With Elisha a type Christ, his servant Gehazi would stand in as the Church. And notice the extreme difference between Elisha's handling of the enemy general Naaman and his servant's worldliness. Naaman had repeatedly offered
thirty thousand pieces of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of fine clothes. Gehazi's requested three thousand pieces of silver and two changes of fine clothes, less than a tithe of the original gift Elisha had flatly refused. Angry at his servant's disobedinece, without warning Elisha literally strikes Gehazi, and his descendants forever, with Naaman's very same disease!

Why? According to Elisha, civilian affairs have no place in a time of war, "
This is no time to accept money and clothes, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and cattle, or servants!" A frequent refrain through Scripture, echoed by the Paul, the apostle of grace, in his second letter to Timothy. And by extension, all Christians everywhere:

  • "So, my son, throw yourself into this work for Christ. Pass on what you heard from me—the whole congregation saying Amen!—to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others. When the going gets rough, take it on the chin with the rest of us, the way Jesus did. A soldier on duty doesn’t get caught up in making deals at the marketplace. He concentrates on carrying out orders." 2 Timothy 2:1-5 MSG

Such passages are offensive to
modern Christianity. Yet, they are in perfect keeping with conflict theology. Worldliness in anathema in wartime. While wildly unpopular, Jesus reserved many of His harshest words in judgment of His Church. And its leaders in particularly. For example, Christ's dire warning against wordily spiritual leadership in His Olivet Discourse of last day events, "The master will cut him in pieces and make him share the fate of the hypocrites. There he will cry and gnash his teeth."

Little wonder such passages are routinely avoided or doctrinally explained away.

In regards to typology or unpopular theology, how best do we handle Scripture's more challenging subject matter? Regarding spiritual truth, the Bible presents a
quantum paradox:

  • "God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It’s up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation." Deuteronomy 29:29 MSG 

  • " Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out." Romans 11:33 MSG
On the one hand, "the revealed things are our business." On the other, God's wisdom is "way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out." How then shall we proceed? In a word, "Prayerfully." And another word, "Honestly."

For our purpose, concepts such as Biblical forensics and Scriptural archeology provide excellent metaphors. As with their physical world counterparts, these spiritual disciplines produce amazing results when done well. Thankfully we have 
Scripture and its ultimate Author to guide us. Charles Spurgeon, once considered by many the Prince of Preachers, was asked how he defended the Bible so well.  He replied, "like a lion in a cage, I just let it out." The same could be said about Biblical interpretation, recognizing that Scripture is designed to be the best interpreter of itself.

As demonstrated, the guidance of Scripture's context (conflict theology) is a crucial component in comprehending the Bible's more challenging content. Particularly when combined with time tested
rules of Biblical interpretation, along with an assist form GB's Rule of Emphasis and Inference. Even so, some mysteries persist. Regarding Satan, two in particular come to mind:

1. Heavenly Rebellion? A heavenly Luciferian rebellion, in the perfection of eternity, is simply inconceivable. While eternally regrettable, it's one thing for the entire human race to fall from grace. Neither mankind, and or even Christianity, has ever experienced the wonders of Heaven. We've never known life without the conflict of sin above, about and within. We can hardly imagine glimpsing, much less living immersed in the very glory of Omnity. Immortal and mighty, joyful and resplendent. Without ignorance or malevolence, want or fear. Beholding the very face of God.

Yet it's quite another to spark insurrection among Heaven's angels. And of all created beings, Lucifer?
"Daystar! Son of Dawn!" Likely the most glorious of the Archangels. Magnificent by even heavenly standards. "Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty." Bejeweled by "every precious stone." The "anointed cherub who covers and protects." Placed "on the holy mountain of God" to walk "in the midst of the stones of fire."

How could such a one
even conceive of sin? Much less become its champion? Why, in heaven's name, betray God's singular blessing and sacred trust? And that of millions, if not billions, of magnificent and holy, ancient and glorious angels who no doubt knew and loved, honored and adored him for ages beyond time?

2. Power to Persuade? An earthly Satanic rebellion, after Christ's Millennia Reign, is equally inconceivable. Again, it's one thing to tempt and deceive the entire human race, under present circumstances. Harried and harassed from paradise lost to the modern age, given even the limited success of Satan's angelic campaign, foolish and fleeting mankind hardly pose a challenge.

Yet it's quite another to reassert control after Revelation's
Great Tribulation. For Satan to be revealed for who he is, "He was a killer from the very start. He couldn’t stand the truth because there wasn’t a shred of truth in him. When the Liar speaks, he makes it up out of his lying nature and fills the world with lies." To be soundly defeated, not once but twice. First in Heaven, and then on Earth. To be bound and chained, locked and sealed in the Abyss for a thousand years. Kept from deceiving the nations as the resurrected and glorified Christ rules and reigns on Earth for an entire millennium.

Try to imagine the loving and merciful, glorious and majestic Kingdom of the Suffering Servant, Conquering King. The great
I Am.  God the Son. Son of God and Son of Man. Yeshua Hamashia, Jesus the Christ. The Bread of Heaven and Water of Life. The slain Lamb and conquering Lion of Judah. The Alpha and Omega. The Way, Truth and Life. The Resurrection, holding the keys of Hell and Death. The possessor of the key of David, opening what can’t be shut and shutting what can’t be open. He who has the seven Spirits of God, who holds the seven stars, walking among the seven golden lampstands. The Faithful and True Witness. The Angel of the Lord and Ancient of Days. King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. Heaven’s Counselor and Mankind’s Advocate. The Word made flesh and the fullness of the Godhead bodily. The Second Person of the Trinity. The Face of Omnity…

A thousand years of benevolence and magnificence. Healing and advancement. Knowledge and wisdom!

All of which appears to mean next to nothing once Satan is released from imprisionment in the Abyss:

  • "When the thousand years are up, Satan will be let loose from his cell, and will launch again his old work of deceiving the nations, searching out victims in every nook and cranny of earth, even Gog and Magog! He’ll talk them into going to war and will gather a huge army, millions strong. They’ll stream across the earth, surround and lay siege to the camp of God’s holy people, the Beloved City." Revelation 20:7-9 MSG
Within the span of single verse, the revealed and defeated Adversary manipulates mankind one final time, into attacking Jerusalem, Christ's capital for a thousand years! Thankfully, his rein of terror will end quickly and decisively:

  • "They’ll no sooner get there than fire will pour out of Heaven and burn them up. The Devil who deceived them will be hurled into Lake Fire and Brimstone, joining the Beast and False Prophet, the three in torment around the clock for ages without end. I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth." Revelation 20:9-11 MSG
Finally, the Luciferian Rebellion will be put down. Satan's influence eternally removed. With all things subjected to Christ and Christ to God. With a new Heaven and Earth. With New Jerusalem forever among mankind as Creation's eternal and glorious Capital City!

  • "For the rule and authority over all things has been given to Christ by his Father; except, of course, Christ does not rule over the Father himself, who gave him this power to rule. When Christ has finally won the battle against all his enemies, then he, the Son of God, will put himself also under his Father’s orders, so that God who has given him the victory over everything else will be utterly supreme." 1 Corinthians 15:27-28 TLB

  • "I saw Heaven and earth new-created. Gone the first Heaven, gone the first earth, gone the sea. I saw Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a bride for her husband. I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: “Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God. He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone.” The Enthroned continued, “Look! I’m making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate.” Then he said, “It’s happened. I’m A to Z. I’m the Beginning, I’m the Conclusion. From Water-of-Life Well I give freely to the thirsty. Conquerors inherit all this. I’ll be God to them, they’ll be sons and daughters to me. But for the rest—the feckless and faithless, degenerates and murderers, sex peddlers and sorcerers, idolaters and all liars—for them it’s Lake Fire and Brimstone. Second death!” Revelation 21:1-8 MSG

  • " In a vision he took me to a towering mountain peak, and from there I watched that wondrous city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of the skies from God. It was filled with the glory of God and flashed and glowed like a precious gem, crystal clear like jasper. Its walls were broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates. There were three gates on each side—north, south, east, and west. The walls had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. The angel held in his hand a golden measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and walls. When he measured it, he found it was a square as wide as it was long; in fact it was in the form of a cube, for its height was exactly the same as its other dimensions—1,500 miles each wayNo temple could be seen in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are worshiped in it everywhere. And the city has no need of sun or moon to light it, for the glory of God and of the Lamb illuminate it. Its light will light the nations of the earth, and the rulers of the world will come and bring their glory to it. Its gates never close; they stay open all day long—and there is no night! And the glory and honor of all the nations shall be brought into it. Nothing evil will be permitted in it—no one immoral or dishonest—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life." Revelation 21:10-16, 22-27 TLB


Appropriate Response


In regards to conflict theology, the Bible refers to
The Day of the Lord numerous times. Both directly and indirectly. As might be imagined, Scripture highly recommends spiritual preparation before judgment and tribulation strike:

  • "I’m going to make a clean sweep of the earth, a thorough housecleaning." God’s Decree. "Men and women and animals,  including birds and fish—Anything and everything that causes sin—will go, but especially people… So get yourselves together. Shape up! You’re a nation without a clue about what it wants. Do it before you’re blown away like leaves in a windstorm, Before God’s Judgment-anger sweeps down on you, Before God’s Judgment Day wrath descends with full force. Seek God, all you quietly disciplined people who live by God’s justice. Seek God’s right ways. Seek a quiet and disciplined life. Perhaps you’ll be hidden on the Day of God’s anger." Zephaniah 1:2-3, 2:1-3 MSG

  • "For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time." Matthew 24:21-25 NIV
Even so, for most of us blessed enough to live in the modern age, such concerns seem inconsequential or distant. Even in the face of ubiquitous and growing worldliness and entitlement, immortality and sin, few modern Christians take Scripture's commands and conditions, revelations and warnings seriously.

Yet change may be coming.

By March 30, 2020 much of the U.S. government and social sector was in either mandated or voluntary shut down in reaction to the
COVID-19 pandemic. Shelter in place was already the new norm for many, if not most Americans. Not to mention much of the world. All but essential workers and movement was banned or strongly discouraged. Three months later, on June 24, 2020, it was reported that globally there had been over 9 million confirmed cases causing 500,000 deaths.

The true origin and nature, impact and aftermath of 
COVID-19 is still unknown. Its current and future ramifications on healthcare and economies, families and societies has yet to be seen. What should be clear to wise Christians is the intensity and scope of the crises.

Simply put, the 
modern world has never yet seen COVID-19's equal. Not since the 1918 Spanish Flu has a pathogen killed so many. Never have billions been forced into extended lockdown. Never has the global economy been in such disarray. Never have non essential businesses, including religious institutions, been ordered to close their doors. Never have Christian churches around the world been shuttered on Easter Sunday.

During this period, direct and indirect pressure from the global pandemic continued to stress nations both rich and poor. Hardships on impoverished and war torn peoples escalated. Levels of unrest and distress continued to rise. The threat of present and future global pandemics was daily news. Economic tribulation reverberated worldwideForty three million sought unemployment benefits in the U.S. alone. Coast to coast rioting and looting, violence and murder over the death of career criminal George Floyd and others were prevalent from coast to coast. The partisan divide deepened dangerously. To the point of choreographing race riots with militias on both sides (if link does not play click here to download militia video). All this while calling to defund the police after already making the crucial job of society's protectors all but impossible.

Scripture is clear such manipulations of facts and logic, much less the rebellion and anarchy they promote, are forbidden and will prove disastrous for all parties involved.

Many like Matt Walsh, a cultural and political commentator, pinpointed glaring lapses in judgment and common sense. They underscored patters of extreme, if not unconstitutional, overreach by government officials. They joined with the dissenting voices of experts and physicians in highlighting needless risks and deaths, particularly among the elderly.

The impact of such unprecedented global distress has been heightened by the possible alinement with not only end time Biblical prophecy, but
conspiracy theories and/or possible deep state plots. Some of which appear more plausible than ever before. For example, take the previous non issue of contract tracing already implemented or being serious considered by nations around the world. Given unprecedented global economic and institutional shutdowns are now standard procedure, mandating continual monitoring of people's movements may be a foregone conclusion. While smartphones have been used, an implanted chip or even nano technology included in a required vaccination, could close any loopholes. As for a COVID-19 vaccine, there are a great many reasons for caution, up to and including genuine concerns in regards to efficacy and safety, not to mention medical professionals questioning plans to roll out genetic manipulation and even nano technology (if video link fails to play click here to download an important 20 min video).

This and other steps may seem all the more justified should there be a
second wave of COVID-19, or future viral pandemics. The need for governments to manage, if not quell, rioting and looting, civil disobedience and unrest provide additional compelling augments for universal chip implantation and tracing. An option made all the more possible with the rollout of 5G wireless networks. Such advances may produce a plethora of positive and negative potentials. With newer and better technology, a cashless or even card-less society might lesson viral transmission and provide other benefits. From verifying immigration status to reducing tax evasion. Genuine smart homes and self driving cars could be just around the corner. Crime, from speeding to murder, may be more readily resolved.

On the other hand, there are
serious health and privacy concerns with tech tracing assisted by widespread 5G distribution. More disconcerting still, for millennia the Bible's emphatically warned against receiving the impending Mark of the Beast. An implant, used not only for commercial purposes, but as a control mechanism with irreversible social and spiritual ramifications:

  • "The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name." Revelation 13:15-17 NIV

  • "A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus. Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” Revelation 14:9-13 NIV
It's not hard to imagine a scenario where the primary, secondary and tertiary global effects of COVID-19 play a significant role in the beginning of sorrows warned of in the gospels, epistles and Revelation. Which again, according to Scripture and contrary to modern opinion, take place before rather than after the Rapture.

Combined with a variety of other factors, it does seem as if the
stage is being set for Revelation's final fulfillment. Consider the reemergence of the nation Israel. A key player in Revelation's drama, yet in the Apostle John's day Israel had long been ground under the boot of Rome. An imperial global empire at the time showing no signs of weakening. For John to suggest Israel would become the center of world wide attention was ludicrous. All the more so after 70 A.D. when the Romans literally wiped it off the map. Yet in 1947 A.D. Israel reappeared in the same location. Never before or since has a nation having vanished for two millennia suddenly reemerged. Israel's resurrection as a nation, not to mention its global notoriety, is unprecedented in human history.

Another fearful sign of the times has been the
creation and stockpiling of inconceivably cataclysmic nuclear weapons. Not to mention other weapons of mass destruction. A large scale thermonuclear or biological war may well fulfill one or more of Revelation's horrendous events. Seen from a Biblical perspective, might today's dire circumstances and looming global disasters serve in part as God warning mankind of even greater temporal and eternal calamity?

In this light, the question becomes, how much louder must Christ knock?

  • Write to Laodicea, to the Angel of the church. God’s Yes, the Faithful and Accurate Witness, the First of God’s creation, says: “I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit. You brag, ‘I’m rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless. Here’s what I want you to do: Buy your gold from me, gold that’s been through the refiner’s fire. Then you’ll be rich. Buy your clothes from me, clothes designed in Heaven. You’ve gone around half-naked long enough. And buy medicine for your eyes from me so you can see, really see. The people I love, I call to account—prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. Conquerors will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered, took the place of honor at the side of my Father. That’s my gift to the conquerors! Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches.” Revelation 3:14-22 MSG
While many object, Laodicea would seem to be the mirror image of modern Christianity. We are affluent and educated, cradled by technology and pillowed in pleasure. More than all previous generations combined we appear "rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing." Up to and including doctrines laced with easy believism and cheep grace, often confusing presumption for faith. Bordering on profanity.

Jesus issued serious pronouncements, including
stern warnings, to Revelation's seven churches. Each representing a 1st century church, a style of fellowship and a church age. Not only does Laodicea appear a carbon copy of Churchianity, but as the last of the seven, it may well represent the final church age destined for many of the hardships comprising the Great Tribulation. A theory that goes a long way in explaining why the worst of Revelation's churches is offered the greatest reward. By persevering through unequaled suffering, to the point of overcoming the Antichrist through martyrdom, they (we) will certainly have earned it.

In this regards, let us again consider the question, how much louder must Christ knock? Scripture explains, "For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child." And as the Apostle Paul reminded his beloved Corinthians, "But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment."

When it comes to
repentance and brokennessproblems and pain, C.S. Lewis noted "God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world." And again, “God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain.”

As usual, Lewis' comments are both insightful and true. Still, according to numerous Scriptures, pain is a means not an end. 
Suffering, including illness, disease and at times even death, is meant as a backdrop against which the glory of Christ's Kingdom shines best! Consider Christ's comments and actions in the wonderful case of the man born blind:

  • "As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work." John 9:1-4 NIV
Rather than rationalize the underlying cause or potential virtue inherent in suffering, Jesus cuts right to the point. Darkness opportunes light. But only to the degree we are willing to fully acknowledge and fulfill Christ's command, "we must do the works of him who sent me."

Time and time again, Scripture reinforces an obvious truth. The work and glory of God are best displayed by miraculous signs and wonders, rather than even well-meant sympathy and words. Nothing can take the place of genuine displays of God's compassion through Kingdom power. As in the case of the people and widow of Nain. Without being asked, Jesus has the audacity to halt a funeral procession and the power to raise a grief stricken widow's child from the dead:

  • "When Jesus saw her, his heart broke. He said to her, “Don’t cry.” Then he went over and touched the coffin. The pallbearers stopped. He said, “Young man, I tell you: Get up.” The dead son sat up and began talking. Jesus presented him to his mother. They all realized they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful—and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, “God is back, looking to the needs of his people!” The news of Jesus spread all through the country." Luke 11:13-17 MSG
Given the global suffering and health needs of billions being stressed to the limits by pandemics like COVID-19, a restoration of all the genuine gifts of the Spirit, and in particular that of miraculously healing the sick, has never been more vital. Many questions remain unanswered. Many mysteries persist. Yet amongst the COVID-19 affliction and aftermath, a single spiritual concern looms large. What will it take to move modern Christians to reevaluate our present disastrous coarse? What more need be threatened? If not forever lost? How much greater the disaster before we replace presumption with Biblical faith? When will fellowships and churches come with brokenness and contrition before the God we so casually invoke and yet daily offend? Are we ready to open the door to Christ through pre-revival repentance in hope of experiencing our own Pentecost, with hundreds if not thousands of upper rooms?

When will at least
Prophetic Christians care enough to take Scripture's advice and join together in the Prayer of Anguish prescribed by James 4, the New Testament's step by step instructions to "keep Satan from taking advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his schemes." The Bible's one and only treatment and vaccine against the Devilish last days spiritual and societal, viral and economic pandemic taking shape before our very eyes.


Update 2022

For my part I've spent 40 years strategically seeking and serving God with a single focus:

1. Is
Modern Christianity and/or Churchianity working?
2. If not, why?

As a Charismatic minister, with better than average understanding of Biblical truth, the journey led me to the following inconvenient truths

1. 1/3 of my doctrine was accurate.
2. 1/3 of my doctrine was in error.
3. 1/3 of the Bible's most crucial points were either undervalued or missing altogether.

Furthermore, I've found this sad equation is far more often the rule rather than the exception.

With this in mind I've sent over a decade developing a topical Biblical commentary entitled, Quantum Christianity, showcased on my site GodBlog.net.

This was all long before 2020...

If there was ever an acceptable time to confuse Christianity with a pleasure cruise, rather than a Battleship, those days are past.

As Paul warned: “And if the [war] bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?” 1 Corinthians

It should be abundantly clear things changed substantially in 2020. Nationally and globally, the world has never scene the like of even the following short list: 

1. Covid-19 and variants, of questionable origin, mandates promoting and/or requiring untested and dangerous MRNA “vaccines” and “boosters” with negative efficacy and even deadly side effects revealing unprecedented control of healthcare and politics by the collusion of pharmaceutical companies and bureaucrats. To the point of threatening the removal of medical licenses of physicians prescribing safe and reliable treatments proven effective against respiratory and other illness. Example: In 2015 Ivermectin won the only Nobel Prize award for treatments of infectious diseases since six decades prior. Also report by Fortune Magazine (not right wing magazine) reveals that a simple  home remedy of saline solution used for "Twice Daily Nose Flushing Can Reduce Covid Hospitalization and Death Researchers Find" by 85%. This study was conducted Fall 2020, and could have helped prevent 3/4 of Covid deaths.

Both undermining the foundations of society by “calling good evil and evil good.” All the while elevating career felons like George Floyd to sainthood status while ignoring the plague of black on black violence and murder, particularly within liberally controlled inner cities like the Obama’s Chicago.

5. Campaigns of disinformation and destruction by the emerging Iron Triangle of liberal governments, legacy media and global corporations influencing and poisoning the hearts and minds of billions.

6. Wokism’s ridiculous and dangerous plandemic of social engineering’s impact on lower and higher education, spread by the super carriers mentioned above.

8. Political attack on democracy, particularly in the U.S. by media bias and censorship, election fraud, registration tampering.

9. Drug cartel control of southern border unleashing illegal alien invasion of 2 million immigrants in 2022. Horrifying abuse, violence and death of women and children, sick and elderly by the most outrageous smugglers and traffickers in American history enabled by Biden administration, democratic policy and republican controlled opposition. On national and state level. Immigrants extorted $10-50,000 by cartels to allow illegal crossing into US.

10. Drug cartel designer drug epidemic and death rate. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Carfentanil is a synthetic opioid approximately 10,000 times more potent than morphine and 100 times more potent than fentanyl. The U.S. government does not track death rates for every drug. However, the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention collects information on deaths involving many of the more commonly used drugs. Nearly 92,000 persons in the U.S. died from drug-involved overdose in 2020, including illicit drugs and prescription opioids. Up from less than 20,000 in 1999. Thats a 350% increase in 2020 with higher rates in 2022..

11. Escalation of US violent and property crime rates. Current odds are 1/178 that an American resident will be murdered during their lifetime.

12. Fuel and energy, transportation and economic crises created by faulty governmental policies and false media narratives.

13. Republican party is Controlled Opposition enabling Iron Triangle of liberal politics, media and corporations to deconstruct Judeo/Christian values. 12 Republicans declare "lawfare” on Christians by voting for so-called "Respect for Marriage Act" codifying federal support for homosexual marriage.

14. President Biden and Iron Triangle target Christian conservatives and/or MAGA Republicans as extreme and/or greatest threat to US.

15. Worldwide manipulation and control of all the above, as well as governments and economies, national budgets and banking, healthcare and communication, goods and services… by global elites implementing a Great Reset thus instituting a New World Order

Many are, and far more will take issue with God, asking is He fair? How can God be good, yet remain silent and distance in the face of such global loneliness and depression, bitterness and loss, illness and disease, pain and death.

The
Bible provides answers to all such questions and more.

Quantumly, Earth is many wonderful things. Sadly, it's also a physical and spiritual kill zone. A battlefield about to get exponentially worse. With too few the wiser.

Understanding the Bible's most emphasizes meta messages is a necessary prerequisite for rightly interpreting Scripture. Developing spiritual sensitivity through diligent practice is also indispensable in learning to discern the reality often obscured by secular and religious culture. As Jesus warned:

  • "Be honest in your judgment and do not decide at a glance (superficially and by appearances); but judge fairly and righteously." John 7:24 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

  • "But the spiritual man [the spiritually mature Christian] judges all things [questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals], yet is himself judged by no one [the unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature]. For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]." 1 Corinthians 2:15-16 Amplified Bible

Given the
quantum nature of living out our faith, it’s preferable to major on the positive rather than dwell on negatives. After all, even when fractured into scores of denominations and plagued by worldliness, a lot can be said for modern Christianity. We enjoy our beautiful churches and programs. We’re comforted by encouraging worship and messages. We value relationships with leaders and fellow believers. All well intentioned attitudes the New Testament seems to support:

  • “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 New International Version

Notice this appealing list begins with whatever is “true.” Then, as if to lay a secure foundation, it continues with “noble” and “right” and “pure.” Far from promoting positivism and unity at the cost of
honesty and discernment, such passages underscore the need for first the former and then the latter.

C.S. Lewis, yesterday, while less than correct on a few key issues, is rightfully recognized as one of, if not the most insightful Christian authors of the 20th century. He also lived through two world wars, wounded by friendly fire on the battlefield of WW1. He saw the reality of Conflict Theology first hand, particularly as England was besieged during WW2.

About God allowing this carnage and man's inhumanity to man, three of his more famous quotes may prove helpful:

1. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.

2. God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain.

3. The hardness of God is kinder than the softness of men, and His compulsion is our liberation.



Seaworthy Metaphors


With Hell to loose, and Heaven to gain, few questions in life are as important as where God draws the line in regards to Biblical Salvation. What does Scripture teach we must do to be saved? Is following Christ, the authentic Jesus, different in the the modern world than the 1st century?

When aboard a massive ocean liner, in certain respects it doesn’t seem as if you’re moving. Because you’re not, when judged by those around you aboard ship. To plot your course and speed, you need a waypoint off ship.

The same holds true for entire generations. There may be no sense of momentum, because we’re all aboard the same massive ocean liner. But actually, we may be moving at a rapid pace, into dangerous waters. Or in our case, questionable if not heretical doctrine and
worldly lifestyles.

As noted above, few recognize the growing gap between 1st century
Biblical Christianity and 21st century Modern Churchianity. Or even the requirements of salvation popularized by a pair of well known sermons by two of the primary architects of the 18th century First Great Awakening.

Jonathan EdwardsSinners In The Hands Of An Angry God may simultaneously be the most famous and infamous sermon of all time. Lightyears from the “cheap grace” of modern Christianity, it’s as interesting as it is a difficult read.

While not
religiously correct, the God of the Bible is simultaneously awe-full and awful, and should be approached as such. While Churchianity considers itself exempt from judgment, Jesus and His apostles tell a different story.

Fully grasping the message and exacting meaning of this sermon is crucial if we are to recover even a fraction of what has been lost. Beginning by developing living faith rather than presumption, whereby we assume salvation rather than seeking and serving God acceptably by means of serious sanctification and radical discipleship. All necessary foundational requirements should we realistically hope to experience Biblical Revival, much less Kingdom Reformation, in our generation.

Instead of reading
GodBlog's classic 18th Century version, we highly recommend downloading "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God: Updated to Modern English Kindle Edition" by Jason Dollar. It can be read for $2.99 on any device by downloading the Kindle app or simply on the Amazon cloud. It is a far easier and meaningful read when updated into modern language and format. The author also includes a balanced introduction and second sermon entitled "Love The Sum Of All Virtue" to present Jonathan Edwards in a more accurate light.

Nevertheless, reader be warned. When Edwards uses the phrase “Born Again” in the 18th century, it is not with the same flippancy as in the 21st, whereby we erroneously grant blessing to have our cake and eat it too. Doctrinally justifying continuing our pursuit of the Christian/American Dream, while living
mostly worldly lives.

To understand the difference, you will need a sermon by his contemporary,
John Wesley, founder of the once puritan Methodist Church, entitled "The Almost Christian.”

Another crucial consideration is that of the
Cruise Vs. Battleship analogy. While you won't find it taught in seminaries or churches, Conflict Theology is actually the underlying context of Scripture. Widely recognized for nearly two thousand years, the modern world long ago changed course, sailing far from puritanical definitions of repentance and morality, faith and discipleship and sanctification and holiness. The result has been the nearly wholesale substitution of assumed salvation for repentance, presumption for faith and inappropriate worship for sanctification.

Decades old, the increase of
temptation and deception, has resulted in a devilishly cunning strategy of incrementalism that over time has all but uprooted millennia of spiritual and sociological gains. Part and parcel of the dramatic and disastrous deterioration in the Times and Seasons in which we live, and vastly worse on the horizon. Evidence of the spirit of the Antichrist terraforming the entire planet for the beginning of Divine judgment and Great Tribulation.

If Christianity’s a cruise ship, sailing merrily from here to Heaven, then certainly Christ’s costly atonement is more than sufficient passage. The cross of Jesus is indeed all anyone could ever need. If however, Heaven and Earth are at war with fallen angels and devils, Christianity is a battleship and we must follow our Commander and Chief’s example and directives by daily shouldering our own.

Even if Christianity could be likened to a pleasure cruise, given
Churchianity’s collision course with so many modern temptations and deceptions, up to an including immorality and the blood red mountainous iceberg of abortion, in certain respects might even many well intended ministries be reduced to simply arranging deck chairs on the Titanic?

So is Christianity a cruise or gunship? We must decide. And do so quickly and carefully. Military directives and drills, cramped quarters and sea rations, would be absurd on a pleasure cruise. So too, civilian itineraries and activities, opulent suites and sumptuous banquets, would be anathema during a time of war
.

Much has been lost and our situation dire. Nevertheless, QC dares to
hope against hope that while as in the account of Christ's debut miracle at the wedding feast of Cana, we have clearly run out of wine, still today Mary's perfect intercession, through timely and appropriate brokenness and repentance, yields insight as to how we may yet find Jesus has once again saved the best for last.
