Approaching God One Thought At A Time

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.

Psalms of Delight
...

Most of the Bible's Psalms give thanks to God on one or more levels. Commanded to do so, Christians aught to make the time to praise God for His glorious nature, creative genius and many gifts to mankind.

Psalms of Delight are written in concert with
Psalms in the Night. Both series contain Modern Psalms meant to comfort and inspire those seeking the Omni-God revealed in Scripture.

Cities Or Galaxies? Summary

The Bible is full of amazing understatements. For example, God's declaration to Abraham, "I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." Even when using explicit language, as in regards to the Apostle Paul's greatest prayer, words pale in comparison to the fullness of the grace and glory of God. Scripture describes one of two utterly inconceivable futures rushing towards each of us. In which all we know will forever be changed. The entirety of humanity will experience either untold transcendence or terror. For eternity. Yet how little time is spent contemplating either.

Yes, I’m on my way! I’ll be there soon! I’m bringing my payroll with me. I’ll pay all people in full for their life’s work.

- Revelation 22:12 MSG

Cities Or Galaxies?

Modern Psalm of Delight 13

As Omnity, You need nothing and no one. You never have and never will. The entire multiverse is but dust in the balance before One such as Yourself. Eternally satisfied for endless eons, how wonderful it must be being You.

Still, as a parent I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to
bless a generation with so much and yet be marginalized or worse. Constantly being taken for granted must be particularly hurtful for the Creator and Savior. Angelic insurrection and human rebellion, it's inconceivable. Heaven's upcoming war and Earth's great tribulation, it's surreal.

I'm truly sorry we don't get it. "
Heaven to gain and Hell to loose" yet we pay little attention. It's just all so unbelievable. Millennia since Christ and here we are, largely clueless as to how best to seek and serve You. Billions worship other gods or themselves. Billions of others call themselves Christians, yet the vast majority invest little more than an hour or two a week in Your kingdom, if that. Could this be part of what You meant when asking, "When the Son of Man returns will He find faith on the Earth?"

The arrogance of ancient and mighty angels might be understandable, though considering Your glory I don't see how. But us? How can such
puny beings constantly facing the specter of death be so foolish? Who can deny all mankind's being expertly manipulated by a devilish Deceiver.

Unimagined Rewards

Thank's for Your
Word. We're lost, yet we'd be hopelessly lost without it. Thank's for offering such great rewards to those who diligently seek You. Seeing the redeemed are to become, "heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ" I wonder about Christ's parable of the talents. Crowned King, Jesus returns to dispense governorships of cities to His faithful servants:

  • He said, “A nobleman was called away to a distant empire to be crowned king and then return. Before he left, he called together ten of his servants and divided among them ten pounds of silver, saying, ‘Invest this for me while I am gone.’ But his people hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want him to be our king.’  “After he was crowned king, he returned and called in the servants to whom he had given the money. He wanted to find out what their profits were. The first servant reported, ‘Master, I invested your money and made ten times the original amount!’ “‘Well done!’ the king exclaimed. ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.’ “The next servant reported, ‘Master, I invested your money and made five times the original amount.’ “‘Well done!’ the king said. ‘You will be governor over five cities.’ “But the third servant brought back only the original amount of money and said, ‘Master, I hid your money and kept it safe. I was afraid because you are a hard man to deal with, taking what isn’t yours and harvesting crops you didn’t plant.’ “‘You wicked servant!’ the king roared. ‘Your own words condemn you. If you knew that I’m a hard man who takes what isn’t mine and harvests crops I didn’t plant, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ “Then, turning to the others standing nearby, the king ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one who has ten pounds.’ “‘But, master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten pounds!’ “‘Yes,’ the king replied, ‘and to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. And as for these enemies of mine who didn’t want me to be their king—bring them in and execute them right here in front of me.’” Luke 19:12-27 NLB
Given the present size of the cosmos, with two hundred to five hundred billion galaxies, each with as many suns, it seems the "cities" in this parable might be rather glorious! How exciting to imagine the unimaginable You've prepared for those who please You:

  • “This is what the scriptures mean when they say: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
So many Scriptures hint at fantastic blessings awaiting the righteous as throughout eternity You pour out the riches of Your glory! What incredible rewards You offer the churches in Revelation like these:

  • Sardis: He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.

  • Thyatira: To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery— just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

  • Philadelphia: Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

  • Laodicea: To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

City of God

Then there's New Jerusalem. As a trekkie it blows my mind!
Your flagship galactic city, descends from the Third Heaven to Earth as the capitol of His new creation. Unequaled in splendor, the city's filled with wonders within and without. Constructed of twelve layers of transparent gemstones, New Jerusalem's twelve hundred miles high, wide and deep. This incredulous city's so tall that should it's foundation touch the Earth, today's low orbiting satellites would crash into it's second story. Talk about your penthouse view! Within its gleaming walls are treasures beyond imagination and something even more glorious, You Yourself!

With so much at stake I beg You again to help us get it. I plead with You to bridge the
silence and distance between us. Rend the Heavens and come down! Help us approach You appropriately. Answer our asking, seeking and knocking today! Tomorrow will be too late for tens of thousands.
