What will the situation be like in the world before the Lord returns, namely, Christ will be despised, and the preachers of the Gospel will be regarded as fools.

Psalms in the Night…
With so many wonderful Biblical promises and powerful examples of God's interaction with mankind, see Psalms of Delight, Psalms in the Night are a way of exploring and sharing some of the difficult and challenging thoughts, feelings and experiences God's people encounter while endeavoring to fully enjoy His presence and power, protection and provision. In ever more genuine and meaningful ways. For themselves and their children, family and friends.
Psalms in the Night are written in concert with Psalms of Delight. Both series contain Modern Psalms meant to comfort and inspire those seeking the Omni-God revealed in Scripture.
Armageddon Summary
The ancient and vast blackness of space, as well as the phenomenal cosmological forces at work in our universe, are awesome and awful to contemplate. We rightly feel small and insignificant by comparison to the cosmos and its Creator.
Fortunately for us, our Intelligent Designer's fantastic fine tuning not only makes life on Earth possible, but insulates mankind from most astronomical violence. Unfortunately, there's an exception. A terrifying end time prophecy were science and Scripture agree there's an Asteroid with our name on it! Just 1 of 60 events the Book of Revelation predicts, the wars and violence of which are destined to cause blood to flow as far as 200 miles, in places as high as a horses bridle.
Armageddon
Modern Psalm in the Night 20
Watching a show this week I was reminded it's all coming to an end. Our sun will someday become a Red Giant, heating and expanding to fill half the sky before engulfing Earth. The good news is we have a few billion years before our blue planet's reduced to an ember and then a wisp of smoke. The bad news is that single large asteroid strike could extinguish most, if not all, life on Earth. It's happened before and will certainly happen again. Cosmology and prophecy agree, it's not a matter of if but when.
I understand Spaceguard is shorting through 18,000 Near Earth Objects, NEO's, hoping to get out in front of the next large-scale, if not global catastrophic impact. It's unnerving to know that a tiny chunk of the cosmic dust, astrologically speaking, can and will destroy everything we know! Of course, the vastness of space is rivaled by the vastness of time. An extinction level event or E.L.E. needn't top our chart of concerns just yet. But then there's Bible prophecy to contend with. Scripture's final Book of Revelation reveals a finale few seriously consider. Among it's Earth shattering events, these scriptures carry a cosmological warning:
- "When the Lamb ripped off the seventh seal, Heaven fell quiet— complete silence for about half an hour. I saw the Seven Angels who are always in readiness before God handed seven trumpets. Then another Angel, carrying a gold censer, came and stood at the Altar. He was given a great quantity of incense so that he could offer up the prayers of all the holy people of God on the Golden Altar before the Throne. Smoke billowed up from the incense-laced prayers of the holy ones, rose before God from the hand of the Angel. Then the Angel filled the censer with fire from the Altar and heaved it to earth. It set off thunders, voices, lightnings, and an earthquake. The Seven Angels with the trumpets got ready to blow them. At the first trumpet blast, hail and fire mixed with blood were dumped on earth. A third of the earth was scorched, a third of the trees, and every blade of green grass—burned to a crisp. The second Angel trumpeted. Something like a huge mountain blazing with fire was flung into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood, a third of the living sea creatures died, and a third of the ships sank. The third Angel trumpeted. A huge Star, blazing like a torch, fell from Heaven, wiping out a third of the rivers and a third of the springs. The Star's name was Wormwood. A third of the water turned bitter, and many people died from the poisoned water. The fourth Angel trumpeted. A third of the sun, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars were hit, blacked out by a third, both day and night in one-third blackout. I looked hard; I heard a lone eagle, flying through Middle-Heaven, crying out ominously, "Doom! Doom! Doom to everyone left on earth! There are three more Angels about to blow their trumpets. Doom is on its way!" Revelation 8:1-13 MSG
The plots of both these films seem frighteningly familiar. What are the odds that two thousand years ago a Jewish fisherman, knowing less science than today's average elementary school student, would predict a meteorite shower immediately followed by an asteroid impact? Add this to the unfolding of the Book of Revelation's prophecy on the world stage and we've got big trouble, particularly in light of the Bible's track record of 2,000 fulfilled prophecies!
Then of course there's Scripture's numerous end times apocalyptic events, just 2 of which will take the lives of half Earth's population. That's prior to Christ's return but after the Antichrist takes global control, installs his False Prophet and implements the Mark of the Beast. If that were not enough, wars will cause blood to flow 200 miles as high as a horses bridle:
- "And I heard a voice in the heavens above me saying, “Write this down: At last the time has come for his martyrs to enter into their full reward. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for now they shall rest from all their toils and trials; for their good deeds follow them to heaven!” Then the scene changed, and I saw a white cloud and someone sitting on it who looked like Jesus, who was called “The Son of Man,” with a crown of solid gold upon his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. Then an angel came from the temple and called out to him, “Begin to use the sickle, for the time has come for you to reap; the harvest is ripe on the earth.” So the one sitting on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the harvest was gathered in. After that another angel came from the temple in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. Just then the angel who has power to destroy the world with fire, shouted to the angel with the sickle, “Use your sickle now to cut off the clusters of grapes from the vines of the earth, for they are fully ripe for judgment.” So the angel swung his sickle on the earth and loaded the grapes into the great winepress of God’s wrath. And the grapes were trodden in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed out in a stream 200 miles long and as high as a horse’s bridle." Revelation 14:13-20 Living Bible
The say, "Fire can't go were it's already gone." Grant us unprecedented repentance and a new Pentecost with an immediate global yield of a million Upper Rooms! Fill us with Your Spirit that we might "be preserved blameless body, soul and spirit until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." And please hurry. Apparently in addition to Earth's many terrible sins and tribulations, there's an Asteroid speeding through space with our name on it.
