Naturalistic Evolution

The existence of God is an objective fact which can be proven beyond any reasonable doubt by using the simplest math formula possible 0 + 0 = 0. This most elementary of equations reflects the logical assertion that for anything to exist, it must have either been created, created itself (a logical fallacy) or possess eternal Self Existence (one of the five attributes of Divinity).

Yet, aside from this self evident truth, a single question answered by an evolutionist reveals that naturalistic evolution is a mathematical impossibility. The question is this. What are the odds that should all naturalisms basics tenants be true, miraculously complex human beings could evolve from something as simple as bacteria?

God Blog is grateful for the contributions being made by Christian researchers educating us to this fact.

Ten With 24 Million Zeros

Given the many competing theories concerning the origins of human beings, it might be wise to simply do the math. Nothing + Nothing = Nothing teaches that for anything, much less everything to exist, there must be a first cause Itself causeless. Something or Someone must possess the power of pre-existing without having been created. Using self existence as proof of God is not a cop out, it's simply fact.

Nevertheless, some objecting to the logic of a Self Existent God, seek to remove the necessity of Omnity; i.e. possessing the minimum 5 characteristics of Divinity which are Omniscience and Omnipresence, Omnipotence and Self Existence, as well as Immutability, from life’s equation. These argue that from certain perspectives, intricate and interesting mathematics and/or metaphysics could postulate a theoretical model such that nothing might indeed create something, and therefore everything. A concept that would seem to lack the necessary criteria of a legitimate scientific theory, being all but untestable. Furthermore, the preponderance of proof and daily experience posits Something, rather than nothing, a far more reasonable and satisfactory source of everything. Additionally, the burden of proof rests with atheistic community to produce an example of a single thing spontaneously creating itself or possessing self existence.

While anything may be possible,
except perhaps nothing producing everything, common sense as well as Occam’s Razor, a guide to theoretical modeling, dictates God rather than nothing as a far better fit for the role of Creator. This long established principle suggests, "If there are several possible ways that something might have happened, the way that uses the fewest guesses is probably the right one.” “To start from the simplest possible explanation and make it more complex only if, and when, absolutely necessary.” Examples of interpretations of this theory include, “do not make unnecessary assumptions” or “do not add assumptions that are unnecessary for the theory/conclusion” or even, “if an assumption is not necessary for the explanation – don’t recruit it in the argument.”

Existence itself, as well as an honest handling of the anthropic principle, lends credence to intelligent design and thus a Designer. The
fantastic degree of fine tuning revealed in the size and age, mass and force, intricacy and beauty of the universe and life on Earth all clearly indicate an Intelligent Designer. Considerations eloquently detailed and categorized in detail in works by such distinguished and notable scientists as astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez’s The Priviledged Planet, astrophysicist Dr. Hugh Ross’s The Improbable Planet and Theoretical Physicist Dr. Michael Guillen’s Amazing Truths: How Science and the Bible Agree. As one of many supplements to his many books, articles and lectures, Dr. Hugh Ross’s organization Reasons To Believe published a concise outline delineating 154 stunning fine tuning parameters necessary for advanced human life.

It would be helpful to calculate the likelihood that human life could evolve without a Creator's intelligently designing all the fantastic fine tuning in our universe and galaxy, solar system and planet necessary for life as we know it. To give random chance a chance, for the sake of argument let's concede naturalism's major tenants and then simple calculate the odds.

The following is an excerpt from a podcast on this issue, featuring Astronomer Dr. Hugh Ross, founding director of
Reasons To Believe. Bottom line, "we must be here by Divine design, since from a naturalistic persecutive the probability is indistinguishable from zero."

More Than A Theory Podcast #12

Introduction: The origins of humanity is were the predominate competing models like Theistic Evolution, Naturalism, Young Earth Creationism and the model we predict here at Reasons to Believe all predict radically different things about what scientists should discover about human origins.

Question: What is the probability that a species as advanced as human beings would ever evolve from bacteria?

Answer: This is one of the main features of the book I have co-written about the origin of human beings entitled, “Who is Adam?” In “More Than A Theory” I’m trying to summarize what’s in there and also talk about some new research that’s happened since then.”

From a
naturalistic perspective, assuming that mutational advance operates as efficiently as the most optimistic Darwinist would ever image, conceding all their arguments such as natural selection, gene exchange etc... for the efficiency of the rate which natural selection could go what is the probability that starting with bacteria you’d end up with human beings?

A number of
researchers from an evolutionary perspective have pointed out the probability is incredibly tiny. As these naturalistic evolutionary processes are much more likely to go in a simplistic rather than complex direction. For example, Francisco Ayala, an evolutionary biologist at the University of California Irvine calculates from an evolutionary perspective that the probability of bacteria evolving into human beings from strictly naturalistic means would be less than 1024,000,000 or Ten with 24 Million Zeros after it!

But three physicist have made the point that Francisco Ayala ignored the fact that we live in a changing environment. Assuming a constant benign environment for the past 3.8 billion years the probability would be
10-1,000,000.

But if you introduce the changes that take place in the physical environment, our solar system, the Earth and the Moon, the probability drops to
10-24,000,000.

When you’ve got twenty four million zeros between the decimal point and the one, from all practical purposes the probability is zero.

To put it in a more potent way, from a naturalistic perspective, we human beings are impossible. There is no way we should exist given these extremely tiny probabilities. This is to say we must be here by Divine design, since from a naturalistic persecutive the probability is indistinguishable from zero.
