Approaching God One Thought At A Time

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

An Amazing Time

Given the rise of modern technology, it may well be argued that Every Man's a King! For all his fabled wealth, even King Solomon never dreamt of riding in a glistening air conditioned car at seventy miles an hour. Much less doing so enjoying his choice of millions of songs and/or videos. All the while accessing an unfathomably vast storehouse of human knowledge and/or conversing with people across the globe on a pocket sized smart phone!

Think of the wonder past generations would have at our schools and universities, hospitals and libraries, supermarkets and shopping malls. Add planes and spacecraft, movies and satellite TV, lasers and nuclear power to an ever growing list of our abilities and they appear to rival those of mythological gods. This includes all that can be known regarding mankind's pursuit of God and vice versa. Such blessings leave little excuse for apathy regarding educating our souls and those of others.

Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed.

- Proverbs 15:22 MSG

Access to information is accelerating at a phenomenal pace. Researchers estimate that currently human knowledge doubles every few years. Today's students know things about the world scholars could only have dreamt a few generations ago. A click or two away waits an astounding amount of information on any subject available to anyone at anytime!

We would do well to take advantage of such a wealth of resource. This is no more true than in the area of
Ultimate Concerns. Surrounded by human need and facing an uncertain Eternity, we should encourage one another to pursue a greater and ever growing understanding of both the nature of our existence and that of our Creator.

While enjoying such phenomenal blessings we would be wise to remember one of Scripture's most pertinent passages. Jesus warned, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Given the treasure troves of knowledge literally at our fingertips we should be seeking God like no previous generation. Yet quite the opposite is true. Drowning in amusements (literally meaning not to think) the serious and diligent pursuit of God is at an all time low, as is the level of godliness in even "Christian" nations. The "light of the world" that once burned bright is quickly being extinguished with little or no genuine concern.

With so much at stake in time and Eternity, there's never been a better time to "seek the Lord when He may be found." With Hell to loose and Heaven to gain we have every reason and responsibility to come to know and be known by God. In conduction with hundreds of unique articles and thousands of modern proverbs, God Blog is happy to suggest excellent resources to aid the interested along this path.
